Alistair Jaque

Alistair is a partner in the corporate law team at Swaab Attorneys. He qualified as a solicitor in the United Kingdom in 1995 and worked at various City law firms in London for nine years before moving to Australia. Having also qualified as a solicitor in New South Wales, he worked in the private equity group at Minter Ellison for two years before joining Swaab Attorneys in 2005.

Alistair has provided advice to businesses in many industry sectors, including financial services, property, technology, transport, insurance, manufacturing, resources, freight and retail services. His focus at Swaab Attorneys has been on the SME market where many of his clients operate.

Alistair was named Deal Maker of the Year 2012 by Finance Monthly for his work on various acquisitions for a publicly listed company in the IT services sector.

His recent transactions include:

  • Advising Zenovia on its acquisition of the Brandscreen media business from administrators
  • Advising a family-owned food company on the sale of its business to an international food processing company
  • Advising listed mining services company, Sub Zero Group Limited, on its $22 million refinancing with Macquarie Bank Limited
  • Advising a UK private equity group on its acquisition of a specialist prestige car insurance business in Australia
  • Advising a Chinese investment company on its debt and equity investment in an organic baby food business in Australia
  • Advising Australia's largest privately owned insurance broker Coverforce on the acquisition of Australian insurance broker MA Risk Solutions
  • Advising Plaut IT Australia on its acquisition of Baseliner, an offshore service provider in Malaysia
  • Advising Applied Filters Pty Ltd on the management buyout of its Australian business
  • Advising IT solutions company, UXC Limited, on its acquisitions of Stream Technologies Pty Ltd, Keystone Management Solutions Pty Ltd and White Labelled Pty Ltd
  • Advising Inovia Holdings Pty Limited (the largest non-law firm provider of international patent filing solutions globally) on the acquisition by UK company, RWS Holdings plc, of the Inovia business for US$31 million
  • Advising private equity group, Yarra Capital Partners, on its acquisition of the BagTrans Group, a specialist provider of high complexity logistics services
  • Advising UK rail haulage company, Freightliner, on its 10 year haulage agreement with a global mining company to transport coal from Hunter Valley mines to Newcastle
  • Acting on the $5 million acquisition of a financial planning business and the investment in the purchaser by a global financial services company
  • Acting on the $60 million refinance of an equipment leasing company
